Room | Movie

Hello there, as you can see on the title, today I'm going to talk about a movie called "Room". Room released last year I'm not sure about the date but I'm sure that it's a 2015 movie. If you have watched the Oscar Awards 2016 you'll probably know this movie. The main actress of this movie who is Brie Larson won the Best Actress Awards in the Oscar 2016. And! The young actor Jacob Tremblay is so cute and he plays the character Jack so well.

I did not watch Oscar because I do not like watching the whole award thing. The reason why I know this movie because I was recommended by my friend Jiaying aka Denim. Since it was holiday so I got the free time to watch it! Let's be honest, I do not think that everyone will love this movie like me and Jiaying do, because it's not that kind of movie that goes viral and attract your eyes immediately, or some people will get really boring watching it perhaps. I'm not sure what am I talking about, uhmmm, it's just not a movie that most people will watch, yeah I think you get it.

So the movie started with a little boy named Jack in a bed with his mom Joy, and he is telling her it is his five years old birthday. Then the film shows us their living lifestyles in a shed but they call it the room. The room is woody, dark, small, and there are everything in the room, the bath tub, toilet, wardrobe and bed. They live in the room for five years already since Jack was born, two years before Jack was born Joy already live inside the room. When the film first started, we got no idea why are they inside and never get out. Jack says a lot of weird stuffs that proved he never see the world outside the room because Joy told him that everything in the room was real and those showed on tv were unreal, and Jack believed that. They live there and was supplied food and electricity all that stuffs by a man they call the Old Nick. Old Nick aducted Joy 7 years ago and locked her inside the room with a hard and firm door that need password to open. During these 7 years Joy was mentally and sexually abused by the Old Nick. One day, Old Nick tells Joy that he lost his job he may not be able to afford their living supplies anymore so Joy realises that it's time to get out, and Jack is growing up he started to realise that what is happening around so Joy decided to get Jack and herself out of this room. Joy tells Jack the truth about the world but Jack cannot accept that, but eventually he realised the theory Joy told her. Joy and Jack got rescued by police and finally escaped the room. After they escaped they met a really tough problem which was how to connect with the world especially Jack. It was tough to overcome all these problems and stresses from the outside. At the end, they let down all their bad memories and finally lead their happy life. ( This is just a summary, I won't tell you how they escape and how they live after escaped, because I don't want to be a spoiler hahaha.)

My review of this movie: The script reflected Joy and Jack's thoughts and feelings really well. The script also showed Joy as a really brave mom, she's young but she knows what is good for Jack. Also, Jack character reflected children's thought, sometimes we thought kids don't know what are adults thinking but sometimes they're sensitive, they can feel what is going on. Sometimes adults make things complicated but childrens' simple thought make things clear and easily understand.
